Bill Birks...

Bill has been playing drums since he was six years old, having begun to play with his mother who was a jazz pianist. His first taste of success was also at the age of six when he won a talent show on American TV with his singing and became co-presenter. Hearing Hendrix play at Woodstock was a watershed for Bill, Hendrix having remained a huge inspiration and influence in his playing.

In 1973 Bill left Canada and came to England as the music scene was all happening here. He toured with various bands throughout the 70s and 80s including Heatwave, The Korgis, John Martyn and Steve Tilston, and has played with Barclay James Harvest, Tears for Fears, Peter Gabriel and Stackridge amongst many others.

In 1981 Bill was contracted by CBS to produce his own album, which was recorded and released in Germany under the name of Contraband. He was also commissioned to write the music for Warner Bros film ‘Radio Power Play’.

Bill plays drums, guitar, bass and piano, but not all at the same time... He now has his own studio on Dartmoor where he teaches, records and lives with his dog, two cats and his musical girlfriend when he is not touring.

Mary Caffrey...

Mary Caffrey began playing bass guitar five years ago. Formerly a percussionist with Blind Lemon Moose, she took to the bass like a duck to water and after only three months practice gave her first live performance with renowned keyboard player James Lascelles (of Joan Armatrading, Sly and Robbie fame etc).

Mary is now a veteran of the festival circuit, (Glastonbury, Womad, Dartmouth, Europe) and toured in Japan with their Hendrix and Santana tribute band Cat in the Hat. When not playing, Mary teaches bass guitar and percussion from her home in Devon.
